The K.C. Chiefs are ready to close out the preseason with their first and only home game in the three-part schedule: a Friday night matchup against the visiting Minnesota Vikings.

With wins over the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs are 2-0 so far in the meaningless preseason standings. That said, it’s a good sign that this team is deep with talent that even their second and third string players are capable of moving the chains on offense and slowing their opponent on defense.

On Friday, fans at Arrowhead are going to get a glimpse of the starters once again as Andy Reid noted the first-team will play at least some if not all of the first half. That’s good news for fans who play a lot of money to see preseason action.

With the visit, Chiefs fans will also get to see a familiar face in former Kansas City cornerback Bashaud Breeland, who signed with Minnesota in free agency on a one-year deal worth $3 million. For the Vikings, they will face their former first round pick Mike Hughes for the first time in the Chiefs secondary and return game.

Chiefs Injury Report vs Minnesota Preseason Week 3

The Chiefs have been hurting in the backfield over the last week after Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Darrel Williams have both been forced to miss practice this week. Edwards-Helaire is nursing an ankle injury while Williams has been in the team’s concussion protocol. Both were finally able to return to practice on Wednesday, but it will be interesting to see if the Chiefs play it safe or not.

The same can be said for pass rusher Chris Jones, who has been out with a non-COVID related illness this week. Will he feel good enough to play on Friday? Will the Chiefs just have him rest until the regular season begins? We’ll have to wait and see.

Adam Thielen Injury Update

The Minnesota Vikings watched star wide receiver Adam Thielen leave early in their last preseason exhibition, a game against the Indianapolis Colts. After the game, the team learned it was a bruise on his thigh and realized it wouldn’t likely require a lot of time away. Despite missing a bit of practice, Thielen was back in practice on Wednesday (along with Justin Jefferson), so it will be interesting to see if the Vikings push him to play some in this preseason game or if the Vikings will play it cautiously against the Chiefs.

Chiefs vs Vikings Odds and Betting Pick Preseason Week 3

WynnBET’s Preseason Week 3 odds have the Chiefs as four point favorites over the Vikings. It’s a sign that oddsmakers don’t really favor the Chiefs backups over the Vikes at this point, given that K.C. earns three points of an edge just for being the home team here. It makes sense to roll with K.C. at this point given how well the second- and third-team players have fared in the preseason so far.
