Every NFL front office is putting in long hours at this point. Not only are scouts, player personnel directors, and general managers making tough calls on which 27 players to release in one week from their own roster to meet the 53-man roster requirements before the regular season begins, but each staff is also scouring the rosters of other teams for talent worthy of claiming on waivers.

For a team like the K.C. Chiefs, the roster bubble is a primary place to watch for talent-needy teams around the National Football League. The Chiefs have proven themselves to be very deep at key positions (read: both the offensive and defensive lines) which means we’re likely going to see several Chiefs players claimed at the deadline.

Elsewhere, however, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach is going to have to make some tough calls about who to keep and let go at positions that aren’t as set. Who will the Chiefs keep at wide receiver? How will cornerback shake out? Do the Chiefs allow every rookie pick to make the roster or will they be forced to make tough calls on reliable veterans?

On this episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast, host Sterling Holmes is joined by AA contributor Jordan Mannix for a long look at the roster bubble for the Chiefs at various positions. It’s an intriguing look at who is in and who is out with one week to go. Fortunately for those who seem on the edge, there’s one more chance to prove themselves to K.C. or other teams against the Minnesota Vikings in the third and final preseason game on Friday.
