Honorable Mention

There are a number of players who didn’t make this list because their exploits were largely for other teams. That said, a good chunk of them provided great memories for Chiefs fans from generations past and present.

Joe Montana and Marcus Allen were major names added to the roster during the “Marty Ball” era of the franchise. Had Montana not been knocked out in the playoffs against Buffalo in 1993, the Chiefs might have another Lombardi Trophy to their name.

Willie Roaf and Morten Andersen were linchpins of the great Dick Vermeil teams. Roaf is arguably one of the best offensive lineman in the league’s history and anchored one of the greatest offensive lines in recent memory. Priest Holmes wouldn’t have had his legendary stretch during the 2002 and 2003 seasons without Roaf pancaking defenders left and right.

Morten Andersen was the definition of consistency. Though his leg had lost its physical prowess by the time he was a Chief, you could always count on Andersen to deliver.

Though these players didn’t receive a spot on the upcoming list, they still maintain a spot in many fans’ hearts. With that said, let’s now take a look at the top legends in the history of the the red and gold. Here are the 11 greatest former players to ever play for the franchise.
