KC Chiefs: Travis Kelce joins Madden 22 ’99 Club’
By Matt Conner
When a player is clearly the very top performer at his respective position and is setting new records for consistency and single-season marks each year, it stands to reason that he should also be immortalized in video game form. Fortunately that’s exactly what Madden 22 chose to do with K.C. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
On Wednesday, the folks at EA Sports introduced Kelce as the latest member of this year’s “99 Club” featuring players with the highest ratings in the game.
While there are certainly other great tight ends in the game—with nods here to Rob Gronkowski, George Kittle and the like—Kelce has locked down “the best” for the last few years. Other players have risen to the moment in a single season before, but no one has put together a body of work that even comes close to what Kelce has done with and for the Chiefs in recent years.
Travis Kelce is back in Madden’s ’99 Club’.
Just last season, Kelce extended his NFL record for most consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards receiving by a tight end to five. Kelce also broke the single-season NFL record for most receiving yards by a tight end with 1,416. Last season, he earned his third first-team All-Pro award and was ranked by his peers among the NFL’s Top 100 players at No. 18 overall.
To break down his individual ratings, the EA Sports team ranked Kelce near the league’s best overall players in both awareness and catching skill with respective scores of 98 and 96. They also gave him incredibly high stamina (97) and jumping (92) with strong obvious ratings in both catch in traffic and spectacular catches. You can see all of his ratings here.
