If you listen to the players and coaches for the K.C. Chiefs, one thing is clear this offseason: no one has higher goals for the team than the members of the organization themselves. While oddsmakers have the Chiefs as favorites to win another Super Bowl and fans certainly expect great success, none of that weighs as heavy as the expectations that players like tight end Travis Kelce is placing on the team.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM, Kelce spoke candidly about the team’s benchmark for success and stated that a team this talented is basically Super Bowl win or bust.

“I took a note from the Bulls when they were winning their championships and had their run. It don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got a ring, baby. All the accolades, all that stuff might be cool when I’m sitting on a couch watching the young guys trying to chase a record. But right now, none of that really meant anything.

“Last year was a failure to me, to be honest. That’s just what I have in my heart. This is just the type of player that I am. If we’re not going out there winning Super Bowls, the season isn’t a success.”

Kelce is certainly not the only player echoing these sentiments this offseason. After winning a Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years back in ’19, the players are hungry to sustain that level of success and establish a new dynasty. Patrick Mahomes himself stated a goal of going 20-0 earlier this offseason, and several teammates have agreed with him in follow-up comments with reporters.

The Chiefs are as talented as they have ever been in their franchise history and have the game’s best young quarterback locked up contractually for the next decade. With All-Pro talents like Kelce also on hand, this team has every reason to believe they can win it all each and every season. They’ve been to two consecutive Super Bowls and the Chiefs sound very, very ready to make it a third.
