KC Chiefs announce reopening of training camp to fans in St. Joseph
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that training camp is back to normal—at least at the macro level—with fans able to attend in St. Joseph, MO.
A global pandemic due to COVID-19 was responsible for shutting down last year’s training camp, at least in any typical sense for Chiefs Kingdom, which meant that the team’s agreement to use the Missouri Western State University campus in St. Joe was postponed. That also meant the general public was not allowed to add the preseason festivities to their summer plans.
From July 28 to August 18, fans will have the chance to come and watch the Chiefs practice, participate in drills, sign autographs, pose for pictures, and interact with Chiefs cheerleaders or mascot and other such activities during a trip to St. Joe. Everything will be free for fans except for three specific days marked by a $5 admission fee. However, those days often include something special for those who make the trip.
Before heading to St. Joe, fans will need to make sure and secure their spot for the one part of training camp that is definitely not back to normal. Any first come, first served way of the past is now gone as crowds will be limited somewhat on campus for training camp. This means fans will need to reserve their spot—again, it’s free for the most part—online through the Chiefs Kingdom Rewards program.
It should also be noted that weather will affect participation and interaction and some days are exclusively limited to season ticket holders as well. Make sure to thoroughly check all information before planning your trip.
