Should the Chiefs trade for Julio Jones?
Julio Jones trade rumors are heating up as the Chargers, Colts, 49ers, Patriots, and Ravens have all been reported to be interested in the wide receiver. But what about the Chiefs?
The rumors have been swirling but today, The Athletic’s Jeff Schultz reported that the Atlanta Falcons are interested in trading star receiver Julio Jones. The Chiefs weren’t one of the teams Schultz indicated are interested but that didn’t stop us from exploring the idea on the latest Arrowhead Addict podcast.
Will Julio Jones be traded to the Chiefs?
There is certainly an argument to be made that as currently constructed, the Chiefs are the best team in the NFL. Hell, they just went to two straight Super Bowls, winning one of them. We’re talking about a team here that won 14 regular-season games last year and easily dispatched of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game when many consider Buffalo to be the most complete up and comer to challenge KC in the conference. To top all that off, there is no sane human being that can argue right now that the 2021 Chiefs aren’t a good measure better than the 2020 Chiefs thanks to the offensive line improvements made during the offseason.
That said, trading for Julio Jones would certainly be a risky play for the Chiefs. For starters, what is it going to take to get Julio Jones on the roster? A pair of second-round picks? Plus a little more? A veteran defendender? A young prospect? Do the Chiefs send say, some picks and Mecole Hardman to Atlanta to rent Julio Jones for two years?
Check out the podcast as we break down whether not the Chiefs should pursue Jones.
