The four biggest roster questions for the Kansas City Chiefs

With the 2021 NFL Draft now behind us and most free agent signings completed, we have a pretty good idea of what the 2021 Kansas City Chiefs roster is going to look like. Yes, there could be a couple more moves either before the start of training camp or after roster cut downs happen, but I think it’s safe to assume at this point that the vast majority of the team’s 53-man roster will come from the players they currently have under contract.

Overall, Chiefs fans should be feeling good about the state of the team. K.C. boasts one of the best rosters in the NFL and is once again considered one of the top contenders to win the Super Bowl next season. The Chiefs are returning all of their big name stars from last season, like Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Tyrann Mathieu, and Chris Jones. They overhauled their offensive line after injury issues there cost them a chance to win another Super Bowl, and most Chiefs fans feel really good about the draft class that Brett Veach and his staff put together.

Overall I am feeling really good about the Chiefs roster this season and think they have a strong chance to contend for a Super Bowl. That having been said, there are still four positions that are clearly question marks for the time being. It’s not that the Chiefs don’t have any options at these positions, but I don’t know if there is any clear-cut solution as the Chiefs prepare for their first full squad OTAs at the end of the month.

If the Chiefs end up with strong play at all four of these positions, I think they will be nearly impossible to beat (assuming their best players stay healthy). On the other hand, if all four positions end up being weak spots for K.C. this season it could be just enough to keep them from achieving their ultimate goal of hoisting another Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.

So let’s take a look at these four positions as they stand now and break down exactly what their options are at each if the season started today.
