Round 4, Pick 144 – Florida State DE Joshua Kaindoh

Do you like raw talent? Does the talk of “potential” get you excited? This is the pick for you. In full transparency, I am not sure what the difference is between, say, Breeland Speaks, Taco Charlton, Tanoh Kpassagnon, or the plethora of other developmental edge rushers the Chiefs have tried over the years. To me, he falls into the same mold—a guy who seems to be bursting with athleticism but some of the skills are raw and untapped.

I personally would have preferred bringing TK back as I think this will be his breakout year, and drafting another developmental piece with injury concerns is a wild card pick, albeit one that could pay off nicely.

Draft Need – B+
The Chiefs need more depth at edge, especially on the cheap, as someone needs to get pressure on the QB who is not named Chris Jones.

Immediate Production – D
I think that, at best, this season gets Kaindoh into the rotation on the other side of Frank Clark.

Potential – A
This is where the fun happens. He might have one of the highest ceilings of any end in this draft based on his traits, but that comes with the caveat of health and consistency concerns.

Overall Grade – C-
