Interior Offensive Line

With Orlando Brown Jr. and Lucas Niang the Chiefs have two young options that they hope will be the future at offensive tackle for them. While they have enough options on the interior for this season, Austin Blythe, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, and Kyle Long will all be free agents after this season, so the Chiefs may be looking to add someone that could be a long term answer on the interior of their line to go with Joe Thuney.

Landon Dickerson – Alabama

Look, I shouldn’t put Dickerson on this list, because it would be a huge shock to see him still on the board at pick #56, but I couldn’t help myself. I love Dickerson as a prospect. He’s like a moving brick wall out there on the field, and the fact that he’s such a fun loving character only makes you like him more. The only chance that the Chiefs might have is that Dickerson’s injury history scares teams off. He has had two different ACL surgeries in college, including one from just last December. Dickerson is a first round talent though, so if he does slide, the Chiefs should snatch him up even if he needs time this season to get back to full strength.

Quinn Meinerz – Wisconsin-Whitewater

Quinn Meinerz is my second favorite center prospect in this draft class (he could also play guard). He’s got a tempting combo of power and athleticism. While his college tape is kind of pointless because it’s basically a grown man tossing kids around, he is still fun to watch. His performance at the Senior Bowl does make you think he might be able to find success in the NFL. He may need some time to adapt to the jump in competition and work on his technique, but the Chiefs could be a perfect place for him to do that since he wouldn’t have to play from day one.

Creed Humphrey – Oklahoma

While Creed Humphrey isn’t quite as exciting as a prospect as Dickerson and Meinerz because he doesn’t have the pure power upside of the other two, his movement skills and playing smarts make him a really safe bet to be a long time quality starting center in the NFL. His movement skills in particular are something that could attract the Chiefs too him, and once again, the Chiefs might be a perfect place for Humphrey to maximize his upside as he could work on his strength and anchor ability as a rookie without having to be throw into the fire right on day one.

Now let’s move to the defensive side of the ball.
