According to K.C. Chiefs wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, fans of the team have no reason to worry about the perceived needs at the position. That’s because he’s ready to step up and become a pass catcher who can suddenly put up 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

On the latest episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast, hosts Sterling Holmes and Matt Conner decided to discuss the state of the position of wide receiver where, after the obvious game-altering presence of Tyreek Hill atop the depth chart, there’s a rather steep decline in proven talent ready to step up.

  • Do the Chiefs have any internal options who can realistically step up in the wake of Sammy Watkins departure in free agency to the Baltimore Ravens?
  • Given that Mecole Hardman only has two seasons under his belt at the pro level, is there any more we can expect from him in terms of dependable growth?
  • What about the emergence of a younger player like Byron Pringle?

At this point, it feels as if the Chiefs can ill afford to lean on an internal player to make the leap, especially when, after this season, Robinson will also be a free agent again and Hardman will be entering a contract year. The timing feels right for the Chiefs to make a major move for a wide receiver in this year’s class, especially since the rookie crop is so celebrated.

This AA podcast episode features a look at the state of things at WR for the K.C. Chiefs.

In other points of discussion, we also look at various offensive positions to see what we think the Chiefs might or might not do in the draft at those very spots. Check out all of this and more on the latest episode of the AA podcast.
