The K.C. Chiefs have approximately two dozen decisions to make this offseason about pending free agents of various kinds—from unrestricted to restricted to exclusive rights free agents. Fortunately for the team, this offseason is mostly about quantity and not quality, which means that the team is largely retaining their impact talent and instead must make decisions to flesh out the roster and maintain depth.

Since we’ve previously sorted through the offensive side of the list of free agents, this episode of the Arrowhead Addict podcast features Sterling Holmes and Matt Conner sorting through the defensive side. Will the Chiefs retain Tanoh Kpassagnon to see how he further develops? Can the Chiefs convince Bashaud Breeland to return in free agency yet again? Will the Chiefs be interested in bringing back a veteran like Alex Okafor for another year? And is Mike Pennel going to be as popular of a potential re-signing as he was last season?

Beyond the list of potential defensive free agents, we also explore the hypotheticals at work in a potential reunion between the Chiefs and pass rusher Justin Houston. A few media outlets have listed the Chiefs as a favored place for him to land when making such projections so we discuss the pros and cons of the idea of a return for Houston after two years with the Indianapolis Colts.
