Super Bowl LV: Madden ’21 predicts KC Chiefs will repeat as champions
By Matt Conner
The Kansas City Chiefs set out to “run it back” several months ago and put in the hard work to earn their second straight Super Bowl appearance. If you trust the simulation put out by Madden ’21 and EA Sports on Wednesday, the Chiefs still have enough in the tank for a push across the finish line.
EA Sports put out their official prediction for Super Bowl LV on Wednesday with a simulated game that put Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a final score of 37-27. For those wanting a close game, however, the 10-point difference only came down the stretch when Andy Reid’s team was finally able to put the game away thanks to the heroics of Mahomes.
The video above will give you a glimpse of the Madden sim they used to make their predictions, and it features a game that was not only tied going into halftime but was also tied at 27 points apiece with just over six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. From there, the Chiefs were able to put the game out of reach.
The Chiefs know a thing or two about postseason drama after last year’s incredible playoff run that featured three dramatic comeback wins in order to claim the franchise’s first Super Bowl victory in 50 seasons. This season, the team has weathered numerous injuries and opt outs to still handle the best attempts from each team to knock them off. They finished with a league-best 14-2 record and have already taken care of the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills this postseason.
EA Sports predicts the Chiefs will repeat at Super Bowl champs.
However, the Bucs stand ready and waiting for the Chiefs in their home stadium in Tampa led by the player who has more Super Bowl rings than anyone in Brady. It’s shaping up to be a memorable matchup even for a Super Bowl and this year’s official Madden simulation of the game seems to back that up.
