NFL scouting departments have their work cut out for them this offseason. The changes forced by a global pandemic have reduced the opportunities for scouts to see prospects in action. The Reese’s Senior Bowl, scheduled for January 30th, 2021, is now squarely in the spotlight as a rare chance to see prospects in action against similar talent. The Kansas City Chiefs will certainly have scouts keeping a close eye on the players in Mobile, Alabama.

The Chiefs will need to fill some key positions via the NFL draft. The NFL salary cap situation is murky going forward, and the Chiefs were already projected to be strapped for cash. Several starters and role players are ready to hit the market. We will look at several prospects, but focus specifically on the areas of needs for Kansas City, which I have ranked as follows:

  1. Offensive line
  2. Defensive end
  3. Wide receiver
  4. Safety/Defensive back
  5. Linebacker

The Chiefs may also check out some tight ends, running backs, and other positions that would represent an investment in depth. We will not list any quarterbacks, as the Chiefs are set with Patrick Mahomes running the show.

The Senior Bowl is approaching fast and the Chiefs will value the chance to get a look at these 2021 NFL draft prospects.

The Senior Bowl is divided into two teams: the National Team, coached by the Miami Dolphins coaching staff, and the American Team, coached by the Carolina Panthers coaching staff. The teams will practice for a full week and then play against each other on Saturday. This is a valuable opportunity for players from different schools and environments to compete against talent they may not have seen during their collegiate careers.
