Every season brings about another player or two who wants to use Tyreek Hill‘s supremacy as the NFL’s fastest player to leverage attention to himself. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Scotty Miller is the latest player to issue a proclamation that he is the NFL’s fastest player and would get the best of Hill in a race.

If Miller deserves any credit here, it’s that radio host Dan Patrick set him up with the question. Unfortunately he wasn’t smart enough (or humble enough) to back down from the inquiry.

Here’s what Miller said in the quote: “I’m taking me every day of the week. I’d take me over anybody. Tyreek is unbelievable. Super quick. Unbelievable talent. But if we’re talking about a race, I mean, I’ve got all the confidence in myself going up against anybody.”

Miller was the Buccaneers’ sixth round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and, to his credit, he’s earned more playing time with each passing season. This year, he had 33 catches for 501 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns—that’s nearly two times as many yards as Hill had (and the same amount of touchdowns) against the Buccaneers in the Chiefs win in Week 12. (Yes, we’re being sarcastic here.)

Scotty Miller is just the latest player to proclaim that he is faster than Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Earlier this year, Hill competed against Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens in a footrace in which he won easily. Others like Marquise Goodwin have stated they wanted to prove themselves against Hill, but it should be noted that the Chiefs wide receiver has also spoken out and embraced such challenges in the past himself. In short, Hill doesn’t shy away from proving he’s the NFL’s fastest. Even Adam Schefter got in on the action with a proposed post-COVID race for charity.

Miller will have a chance to show the Chiefs up close just how fast he is when their teams meet in Super Bowl LV on February 7.
