Welcome back to another celebratory edition of Around the AFC West! I hope you all had a great holiday. I know I did as we watched the Chiefs (barely) squeak by the Atlanta Falcons to secure the number 1 seed in the playoffs and the only AFC bye.

What a great feeling (although there is a part of me that doesn’t love the starters resting because it means we might lose to the Chargers and have a record in division that isn’t as dominant). Before we dive into that, let’s take a look at the rest of the AFC West as they sputter towards the end of the season.

Las Vegas Raiders

LOL. I’m done. That’s all I need to write about the Raiders.

Frankly, this was such a boring game until the last 5 minutes and then it was amazing. The Raiders looked like they were going to crush the Miami Dolphins’ playoff dreams until Fitzmagic happened. Down two points with mere seconds left on the clock, the Raiders dragged Fitzpatrick down by the facemask as he heaved a pass to Mack Hollins. Hollins caught the ball and darted out of bounds like the refs threw flags like they were Mardi Gras beads at a parade. Add on the penalty and the Dolphins were in field goal range. They punched it through the uprights and came up with the win. Fitzmagic now holds the best no look pass of all time.

Asked after the game why he didn’t just let Josh Jacobs score a touchdown, Gruden blamed the Patrick Mahomes effect. He wanted to leave as little time on the clock as possible. We love rent free living.

What a spectacular collapse! With that, the Raiders were officially eliminated from the playoffs, and they will always be the team that got Fitzmagic-ed. Excellent.

The Raiders now head into Week 17 with nothing to play for other than trying to find some pride before their extended vacation. With that, they head to Denver to take on the Broncos. The Raiders should be able to handle the Broncos easily, but frankly, they are not good so this should be a fun one. Excuse me while I continue to chortle over the Raiders for the rest of the week.

Game time is Sunday at 3:25 p.m.
