The Chiefs are playing it safe with Tyreek Hill’s hamstring concern by letting him sit out practice.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stated that Tyreek Hill, the team’s top wide receiver, sat out Wednesday’s practice due to a hamstring issue that remains an ongoing concern. The hope is that resting it will allow him to remain available for game day, which this week comes against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

The Chiefs aren’t interested in forcing anything to happen in the next couple weeks as they close out the season. While they technically don’t have the AFC’s top seed officially wrapped up, it’s certainly theirs for the taking with the lead they currently enjoy over the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The hamstring has been a familiar concern for Hill at various points this season, but it’s never risen above a minor issue. Hill hasn’t missed a single game in 2020 and there’s no reason to believe this will be a potential concern for his availability for Sunday—at least not yet.

So far this season, Hill has 83 catches for 1,211 yards, and 15 touchdown catches. He’s also added another 2 scores on the ground along with 123 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Hill is on pace to set a brand new franchise record for the most touchdown receptions in a single season. He currently has 15, which has tied him with Dwayne Bowe‘s 10-year-old record, and one more will ensure he owns it outright. Hill is already the franchise record holder for most yards in a single season.
