KC Chiefs lose Danny Isidora to Pittsburgh Steelers

The Chiefs have lost offensive lineman Danny Isidora to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they had decided to sign offensive lineman Danny Isidora away from the Kansas City Chiefs. The move was made to strengthen an offensive line that has taken some recent hits.
The Steelers lost two players at left guard in Week 14 to injury as both starter Matt Feiler and backup rookie Kevin Doston left during the team’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Steelers placed Feiler on injured reserve, which means that he will miss the rest of the regular season at least.
Isidora was signed to the Chiefs practice squad in early September as a depth signing in case of future issues along the offensive front. He was promoted to the active roster for both Week 7 and 8 against the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, respectively, but the team demoted him back to the P.S. after that short stint.
Interestingly enough, the Chiefs likely left Isidora unprotected on the practice squad because of the presence of Stefen Wisniewski, who was cast aside by the Steelers earlier this year. Wisniewski was with the Chiefs in 2019 for the team’s Super Bowl run, but he signed with Pittsburgh in free agency last spring when given a chance to play for his hometown team.
Unfortunately for Wisniewski, he suffered a pectoral injury that forced him to head to injured reserve shortly after the season began. By the time he returned, the Steelers had found (temporary) answers and allowed him to leave with an injury settlement. From there, the Chiefs came calling with renewed interest and Wisniewski was placed on the team’s practice squad.
At this point, the Chiefs even without Isidora have multiple options for depth and potential changes up front with Wisniewski and Martinas Rankino on the roster. The Chiefs also have Daniel Kilgore they can use at center.
