The Saints still don’t know if Drew Brees will play in Week 15 or not against the Chiefs.

The best that Sean Payton could offer reporters when it comes to to the New Orleans Saints biggest question mark is a simple shrug of an answer: “We’ll see.” That’s what Payton stated in response to whether or not the Saints would see star quarterback Drew Brees return to practice this week ahead of the team’s showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15.

Brees has missed the last four games for the Saints after being placed on injured reserve in November. Brees fractured 11 ribs and suffered a punctured lung earlier this season, and the Saints previously stated that they weren’t going to rush their QB back to the field. Sources told ESPN over the weekend that Brees wouldn’t take the field until he was “able to throw without any limitations.”

If Brees is unable to go on Sunday against the Chiefs, Taysom Hill will likely make his fifth consecutive start in his place. Hill is 3-1 as the Saints starting quarterback with 4 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions to go with his 72.3 percent completion rate. As for Brees, he was enjoying another solid season under center with 18 touchdowns and 3 interceptions through 10 games in 2020.

Right now, both the Saints and Chiefs are locked into races for the top seed in their respective conferences, with each win going a long way in each side to help determine who gets an all-important first-round bye. The Chiefs must win to maintain control over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC, while the Saints hope to keep pace with the Green Bay Packers in the NFC.

The Chiefs and Saints kick off at 3:25 p.m. C.T. on Sunday.
