The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Miami Dolphins 33-27 on Sunday, claiming their fifth-straight AFC West crown.

The Kansas City Chiefs are the hottest team in the NFL but they have an annoying habit of making games closer than they need to be. It goes a little something like this:

Step 1: Get off a sloppy start on offense. Maybe turn it over.

Step 2: Fall behind an inferior team. Maybe by two scores.

Step 3: Secretly laugh at all the Chiefs fans having meltdowns on Twitter.

Step 4: Wake up and start gashing the opposing defense for huge gains to establish a two-score lead.

Step 5: Stop playing defense.

Step 6: Got three-and-out a couple of times.

Step 7: Allow the other team to get within one score.

Step 8: Run out the clock.

Step 9: Win.

That last step is the most important. The Chiefs win. They have lost one game since November of 2019. They are on an incredible run. They just don’t always win pretty.

This week on the AA podcast, we break down the game against the Dolphins and try to figure out just why the Chiefs keep having so many wonky games. Dive in!
