Los Angeles Chargers

Oh, Chargers. It’s starting to get sad now. There is so much talent on this team and yet they cannot win. Are they cursed? Whose cat did they kick? What burial ground did they dishonor? I just don’t understand. Clearly (or it should be clear) we are watching the final games of Anthony Lynn as head coach for the Chargers. There is no reason they should be losing as many games as they are, yet here we are.

On Sunday, the Chargers traveled to Buffalo on what was an unseasonable beautiful day for late November that far north. The Chargers had a chance at this one, to upset one of the AFC darlings in the Bills. Josh Allen got sloppy in the fourth quarter and turned it over three times, and we witnessed yet again that the Bills really should consider practicing defending the Hail Mary during practice.

I think I am sold on Justin Herbert. He is playing his heart out but he isn’t being put in position to win. I have a sneaking suspicion that with a new head coach, we may see a tough Chargers team to beat. I fully expect to hear how the Chargers are going to win the AFC West during the next offseason.

Before we can go there, the Chargers have to finish this season. Next Sunday, they host the Patriots. The Pats are still in the hunt for the playoffs and have been playing a little better recently, eking out ugly wins. The Chargers seem to find fun new ways to lose, so maybe they’ll do so this week by accidentally kicking a field goal through the wrong uprights and some random rule will award the points to Bill Belichick.

Game time is Sunday at 3:25 p.m.
