KC Chiefs have better Super Bowl odds now than the preseason
By Matt Conner
The Chiefs odds to win the Super Bowl have gotten better after a half season.
The Kansas City Chiefs made their preseason focus clear to everyone that they were going to “Run It Back” in 2020 after winning their first Super Bowl in 50 seasons just last winter. Thus far, they’re not only on track, but oddsmakers like their chances even more after seeing the team in action through the first half of the season.
As the Chiefs rest and recuperate over the bye week, Odds Shark has posted the latest odds to win Super Bowl LV in early February and Andy Reid‘s team more heavily favored than ever before.
Before the season began, the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens were tied at +650 (or 13/2 odds) apiece as the overall favorites to win the Super Bowl. It only added to the interesting preseason drama given that both teams were set to meet early in Week 3, employed the last two MVPs, and that both team leaders were so young and popular. The Chiefs were the potential new dynasty-in-the-making while the Ravens were the next great rivals for them. Both were also in the AFC, which meant one would play spoiler on the season.
So far in 2020, the Chiefs have raced out to an 8-1 record through nine games while the Ravens have faded a bit after losing to both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chiefs. The Steelers, in fact, own the only unbeaten record in football at 8-0, so it’s no surprise to see their own odds improve so dramatically at midseason.
Here’s a look at current odds and how they stacked up before the season started:
- Chiefs: +333 (+650)
- Steelers: +500 (+2500)
- Saints: +700 (+1000)
- Ravens; +850 (+650)
