Kelechi Osemele leaves Chiefs game with knee injury

The Kansas City Chiefs watched Kelechi Osemele leave with a knee injury.
The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a key player on their opening drive against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday when starting left guard Kelechi Osemele went down with an apparent knee injury on a non-contact play early in the first quarter.
Osemele was hustling downfield to help block as Patrick Mahomes was running on a long 2nd-and 20 play when his knee gave out. He went down and the Chiefs called a cart over to help him get off the field and back in the locker room. The team designated him as out shortly thereafter.
Mike Remmers, who started at right guard earlier this year in place of Andrew Wylie when ill, entered the starting lineup in his place.
Osemele has been a mauler of an addition for the Chiefs through their first four games. The Chiefs watched Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, their typical starter at right guard, opt out for the season due to COVID-19. General manager Brett Veach immediately responded by bringing in Osemele on a one-year deal. Since then, he’s been a fixture at left guard and heralded for his toughness and strength.
The Chiefs now turn to Remmers and Wylie as their interior starters at guard and hope the line can stay as strong as it has been through their undefeated start to the season.
Osemele has struggled with injuries for the last two years, however those concerns have been with his shoulder—one that required surgery last season.
