Bill Belichick, LOSER

All you had to do was look at your Twitter feed anywhere close to the middle of the second quarter in order to find myriad versions of the following:

Belichick was heated for good reason: the Chiefs were given an absolute gift of a non-call by the officials when Mahomes clearly fumbled an interception (yep, it was that wonky) after being sacked by Chase Winovich.

As Mahomes starts to go down, he’s also hit by Deatrich Wise, Jr. and he tries to throw the ball away. Instead, it’s knocked loose but linebacker Shilique Calhoun gets his hands on it and starts to run. But for some reason, the refs blew the play dead, forced Calhoun to stop running and the play was ruled a 7-yard sack. That was it. From there, the Chiefs punted faster than you can say “How’s Dustin Colquitt?”

The Patriots got screwed a number of ways on that very call and Belichick was livid. In fact, he was so irate that his emotions likely kept him from noticing the Chiefs were able to get in and punt the ball so quickly.

It feels like karma for every Tuck Rule or other call gifted to the Patriots over the last few years. It also makes Belichick one of this week’s losers.
