Patrick Mahomes is the fastest quarterback to 10,000 passing yards in NFL history.
Patrick Mahomes has been setting new marks for quarterbacks since he took over the reins for the Kansas City Chiefs as their starter back at the end of the 2017 season. His latest mark is the fastest quarterback to reach the 10,000 passing yard mark, which he accomplished early in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, his 34th career game.
Mahomes has been nothing short of a marvel ever since he took over the starting role for the Chiefs. In his first full season under center, he mastered Andy Reid‘s offense to the tune of 50 touchdowns and over 5,000 passing yards in a single season—the second such quarterback in NFL history to accomplish the feat. Peyton Manning was the first. The end result was being awarded the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award in 2018.
During the following season, Mahomes dealt with a number of injuries, both slight and moderate, which kept him out of 2.5 games and limited him—at least, relatively speaking—for several more. The list included a knee and ankle injury among others, but Mahomes was still very much in conversation for the MVP award again and put together a tremendous postseason run that delivered the first Super Bowl championship to Kansas City for the first time in 50 years. In addition, Mahomes was named Most Valuable Player of the Super Bowl to add another trophy to his mantle.
Through two games this season, Mahomes is completing 65 percent of his passes for 571 passing yards and 5 touchdowns without a single interception.
