Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman has high praise for Chris Jones.

The Baltimore Ravens have spent the last week getting ready for their marquee matchup of the season, a Week 3 battle with the Kansas City Chiefs. While both sides of the ball has impact players to prepare for, Chris Jones has drawn considerable praise from his upcoming opponent in recent days.

In his press conference earlier this week with reporters, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman pointed out Jones as a particular player who was expected to be problematic for the Ravens up front.

"“We’re getting ready to play a really good Chiefs team, the Super Bowl champs,” said Roman to reporters. “Up front, we had J.J. Watt last week and that’s the NFL for you. Now you get Chris Jones. This guy is playing better than any defensive lineman we’ll see from any other team. He’s got all the tools and his wares are on display every week. We’ve got our work cut out for us.”"

Thats’ high praise coming from Roman, who was named the Assistant Coach of the Year last season by the Associated Press. Roman has been with the Ravens since 2017 in one capacity or another—from tight ends coach to his current role as OC—so he’s seen Jones on two previous occasions. In 2018, Jones had 3 tackles, 1 quarterback hit and 1 official sack. Last season, Jones had only 2 tackles on the stat sheet, but his presence helped his teammates rack up 3 total sacks of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jones was rewarded this past offseason with a lucrative contract extension to keep him in Kansas City for the next four seasons. In just over four seasons with the Chiefs, Jones has 76 quarterback hits, 34.5 sacks, 20 deflected passes, 2 interceptions, and 7 forced fumbles.
