Sammy Watkins and Charvarius Ward have been listed as questionable for Chiefs vs. Ravens.
The final injury reports are out and the Kansas City Chiefs have some last-second calls that are going to be interesting when it comes to their available players. The team has key players on both sides of the ball that will likely be game-time calls given their designation as “questionable” against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.
Both wide receiver Sammy Watkins and cornerback Charvarius Ward were given the designation ahead of the Chiefs’ primetime matchup of AFC powers. For Watkins, he’s been a part of the team’s concussion protocol for the last week after a helmet-to-helmet hit from L.A. Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman forced him to leave Week 2 with a head/neck injury.
As for Ward, the Chiefs lost him in Week 1 against the Houston Texans with a fractured hand. He had surgery immediately following the game to repair the injury, and he’ll be in a cast for the foreseeable future. It’s possible he could play with the cast, but attempts to do in Week 2 were unsuccessful. It’s clear the Chiefs will hope he can play in Week 3 but nothing is a given.
As for other injuries for the Chiefs, defensive end Alex Okafor has already been ruled out due to a hamstring injury that’s now lasted two-plus weeks after he left the team’s opening game. Okafor almost missed much of last season due to numerous injuries, including a torn pectoral muscle.
Finally, linebacker Dorian O’Daniel, who is a strong special teams asset, is also questionable with a listing of a knee/ankle issue.
As for the Ravens, cornerback Tavon Young is officially out for the game, the only such player for Baltimore. However, several more are questionable including guard D.J. Fluker, defensive lineman Justin Madubuike, linebacker Anthony Levine, and wideout Chris Moore.
