Even in the midst of a pandemic, the Kansas City Chiefs have had an intriguing training camp. What are the top storylines heading into the season?

The padded portion of the Kansas City Chiefs training camp kicked off at the beginning of last week. In the midst of an odd offseason, in which team news has been scarce given the circumstances, the defending Super Bowl champions still have a number of interesting storylines.

With the first game against the Houston Texans less than three weeks away, what are the top storylines that could impact the early part of the season for the red and gold?

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is way ahead of schedule

At this point, this storyline is a bit of a broken record. Simply put, there are extremely high expectations from local and national pundits alike for Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the Kansas City Chiefs 2020 offense.

Two weeks ago, after hearing how the team plans to utilize him, Louis Riddick tweeted the seemingly crazy suggestion that fantasy footballers should consider drafting Edwards-Helaire first overall.

Brett Veach, the Chiefs general manager who also has a pretty unique track record when it comes to predicting player’s impacts, has gone on record claiming that Edwards-Helaire is destined for a great year as the team’s primary ball-carrier.

All reports from training camp are that Edwards-Helaire is way ahead of schedule. If these reports turn out to be true, Riddicks’ suggestion might not be that crazy after all.
