Patrick Mahomes says his lucrative extension does prevent him from several activities.

Patrick Mahomes can do all things well. From now on, he just won’t be able to prove it—at least not without drawing the ire of his employer, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes signed a lucrative new contract extension earlier this week to the tune of 10 years and a value worth up to $503 million. The deal keeps Mahomes with the Chiefs through the 2031 season, assuming that the deal remains in place for that incredible length of time. The contract was celebrated throughout Chiefs Kingdom as fans were enamored with the long-term marriage of the team’s best player and franchise. Mahomes himself said it made for a nice July 4 holiday weekend.

But the contract does come with some constraints. Specifically, Mahomes appeared on 610 Sports Radio’s The Drive with Carrington Harrison and Sean “Sports Machine” Levine to discuss his deal and stated that the Chiefs are limiting plenty of physical activities for the sake of avoiding injury.

"“I still don’t think I’m allow to play basketball. I’m sure baseball is not going to be allowed as well. I know there’s a lot of them. They have like everything from jet skiing to, I don’t know what all the things are. I read a lot of them. It’s pretty much every physical activity you could possibly do. I’ll probably be sticking with football and video games for now.”"

Mahomes is already the NFL’s best player at the age of 24, with only two full seasons as a starting quarterback under his belt. However, Mahomes was also drafted by the Detroit Tigers as a longshot selection in the 37th round back in the 2014 MLB Draft. The Tigers knew it was worth an attempt to sway him despite Mahomes’ commitment to be a quarterback at the collegiate level at Texas Tech. Ultimately, Mahomes would decline the Tigers invitation and go on to great things under Kliff Kingsbury‘s tutelage.

In addition to baseball, Mahomes also averaged 19.9 points per game as a junior on the Whitehouse High School basketball team. Check out the highlights. In addition, Mahomes is even slated to play golf next week in a celebrity tournament known as the American Century Championship. It’s a bit sad that Mahomes has to only stick to football, but I think most of us would be willing to do the same for a mere half billion dollars.
