Patrick Mahomes has been chosen to compete in a celebrity golf tournament.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is already an MVP in one sport and could have gone pro in another. Now he’s taking his skills to the links. Mahomes is scheduled to compete in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament next week—from July 8 to 12.

Mahomes and Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce will both be playing at Edgewood Tahoe, near Lake Tahoe, in a televised event (ABC) to raise money for COVID-19 relief, social justice organizations and local Tahoe-area charities. President of American Century Jonathan Thomas was particularly excited to bring Mahomes to the annual celeb event for the first time.

"“As a company that’s been headquartered in Kansas City since 1958, American Century Investments is excited and proud to welcome KC Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes to this year’s tournament,” said Thomas."

Every year, the American Century Championship is held in July for charity and features famous athletes and entertainers coming together for the event. Kelce and Mahomes are not the only ones representing the Chiefs on site. In fact, former Chiefs running back Marcus Allen will also be participating, as is current Tennessee Titans head coach and former Chiefs linebacker Mike Vrabel. Kansas City native Rob Riggle will also be present.

Plenty of other former NFL legends will also take part, including Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, quarterback Steve Young, pass rushers Von Miller and Demarcus Ware, wideout Adam Thielen, head coach Anthony Lynn, and tight end Kyle Rudolph.

For the first time, the event will be played without spectators at Edgewood Tahoe, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
