The five toughest games on the KC Chiefs 2020 schedule
4. Houston Texans – Week 1
Football is back—or let’s hope so with this NFL opening game of the Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans. This was the opening game I was hoping for as the Watson vs. Mahomes saga continues and takes the main stage.
Make fun of Bill O’Brien all you want—I still will—but the dude makes the playoffs year in and year out. While he is very… I’ll say unconventional to be nice, the Texans are a tough team to beat. Yes, the comeback in the playoffs is a reason to not be scared, but they still got out to a 24-0 lead and quick.
Watson is a top 5 quarterback, and while they lost All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins, the addition of Brandin Cooks still gives them a solid receiving core. The offensive line is still going to put Watson under a lot of pressure, but he is good enough to make it work. In a quarterback-driven league, anytime you have one of the top guys, you have a chance of winning. We saw last year that Kansas City can be hurt by running QBs at times and the dual-threat nature of Watson brings this issue to the forefront.
With it being Week 1, a lot of teams show rust and are still trying to find their identity. As we saw last year at Jacksonville, Andy Reid will have his team prepared and with most of the starters back, I expect the Chiefs to start quick again. Can we say the same about the Texans?
