The NFL draft is here and there are a lot of players that could improve the Chiefs. Here’s some of the guys on my draft wishlist.

The NFL draft is one of my favorite times of the year and in the absence of sports this year, I’ve been looking forward to it even more than usual. The Kansas City Chiefs, like any NFL team, have several needs. They’ve lost some players like Kendall Fuller, who signed with his old team the Washington Redskins, and kept some players like Bashaud Breeland, who returned on a one-year deal.

They’ve also signed some players like running back DeAndre Washington, who they added on a one-year contract. Now, the Chiefs are looking to round out their roster through the NFL draft, and there are plenty of options for them.  Whether they want to improve the offensive line, secondary, or add a star running back to an already impressive offense, there are a lot of guys I think would be great fits for the Chiefs in this draft.

Brett Veach has already made a lot of great draft picks, and I’m excited to see who’s going to be the next great pick. I have way more players I love from this year’s draft, but here’s a list of 25 guys on my draft wishlist for the Chiefs starting with offensive tackles:

Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

Mekhi Becton is a 6’7″ 364 lb offensive tackle out of Louisville who ran a 5.1 40-yard dash—an impressive feat for someone of his size. Becton was considered a top 10 pick, but we recently learned that he had a drug test flagged at the NFL combine. This hurt his draft stock, and he’s now sliding out of the top 10 in a lot of peoples’ minds.

Becton is a long-shot for the Chiefs for sure. However, if Becton somehow makes it to pick #20, then I would have no second thoughts if the Chiefs traded up to select him. Protecting quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a priority, and Becton would be able to jump right into the Chiefs’ offensive line and become an immediate contributor.

Lucas Niang, OT, TCU

A more realistic guy I like for the Chiefs is Lucas Niang, a 6’6″ 315 lb offensive tackle from TCU. Niang had an incredible career at TCU, only allowing one sack his entire time there, which came during his freshman season. During this time, he has also only committed two holding penalties along with no false start penalties.

However, Niang’s senior season came to an end early as he was forced to have surgery for a torn hip labrum. Before his surgery derailed him, Niang was on pace to be a first round draft pick and now is the perfect time for the Chiefs to get a steal. A disciplined and proven offensive tackle, if Niang is available when the Chiefs pick in the second round he would be a great addition to their offensive line.

Hakeem Adeniji, OT, Kansas

Coming from a school just 45 minutes down the road, Hakeem Adeniji is a 6’4″ 302 lb offensive tackle who started every game for the Kansas Jayhawks. During the Reese’s Senior Bowl, Adeniji showed his talent at the offensive guard position, making him someone who could play either position for the Chiefs.

Adeniji likely won’t be an immediate starter for the Chiefs, but he would be a great backup to develop to become an eventual starter. He’s reliable and can be moved to where the Chiefs need him. He’s likely to be available in the fourth or fifth round of the draft for the Chiefs.
