Quarterback – No Crush Needed

Call this a copout if you want, but I stopped scouting quarterback prospects the moment the Kansas City Chiefs selected Patrick Lavon Mahomes II. If we were going to roll with this “crush” metaphor, I am simply too head-over-heels for Mahomes to have eyes for any other quarterback and I doubt that will change until he’s a wily old veteran and it’s time to start scouting for his successor. Hopefully that isn’t for another 10-15 years.

Practically speaking, it just doesn’t make sense for me to try and use my limited time outside of my regular job and family watching a position that the Chiefs simply won’t address with one of their picks. The Chiefs already have Chad Henne as an experienced veteran on the bench and with them adding XFL star Jordan Ta’amu this offseason, they also have a developmental backup as well.

I will say that the little bit of this year’s quarterbacks that I have seen make me very grateful that the Chiefs aren’t still on the market for a franchise quarterback. Outside of Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa (if he’s healthy), I’m not sure there is anyone I would want to hand the future of my team over to.

With that said, let’s get on to the other positions where I do actually have draft crushes, starting with running back.
