Counting down the worst NFL draft classes in KC Chiefs history
2. 1975
In 1975 the Chiefs upped the ante once again. They drafted 11 players that year and one—only one—ever played a game in the NFL.
The Chiefs did not have a first round, fourth round, or fifth round pick in the ’75 draft. In the second and third rounds they drafted tight end Elmore Stephens and defensive tackle Cornelius Walker. Unfortunately neither one ever played a single snap in the NFL.
With their first of two picks in the sixth round, the team drafted running back Morris LaGrand. LaGrand played in 13 games in 1975, including 11 with Kansas City. He notched a grand total of one rushing touchdown in his entire career. He finished the season with the New Orleans Saints, where he lasted for two games. LaGrand was selected in the NFL’s expansion draft by the upstart Tampa Bay Buccaneers, giving him a change of scenery, but he never played for the team and was out of the NFL after just one season.
