We’ll save postseason glory for another day in order to dedicate this time to the most crucial plays of the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2019 regular season.

In any championship season, a lot of things have to go your way. You could look back at even the most dominant juggernauts in league history and comb through a handful of games and say, “Yeah, but if that one play hadn’t have happened…” and the entire landscape of history would look completely different.

Obviously, there are numerous plays from the 2019 postseason we could rewind at and acknowledge that our Kansas City Chiefs would never have won the Super Bowl if that had not happened. And this is not to discredit them.

However, a lot of things had to happen in order to get there. You’ll remember that the Chiefs needed help from the Miami Dolphins just to get the 2-seed and the bye week to begin the playoffs. If Kansas City had entered the postseason as a 3-seed, would we still be celebrating a Lombardi Trophy?

Thankfully, we’ll never have to know that, because the ball bounced in favor of the Chiefs this year. So, in spite of all the historical greatness that happened in playoff games against Houston, Tennessee and San Francisco, we will put those off for another day, in order to dedicate this time to the most crucial plays of the 2019 regular season.

This quintet of plays from the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run all have one thing in common: They were pivotal in the sense that they quite possibly impacted the trajectory of more than just one game. Any number of plays could have cost the Chiefs a game here or there in the standings, and subsequently the #2 seed in the playoffs. So here we go! Let’s unpack the five most pivotal plays of the regular season.
