Tom Brady is switching teams in 2020, but the Kansas City Chiefs will, of course, find a way to play him again with the Buccaneers.

Every year, it seems the NFL finds a way to pit the Kansas City Chiefs against Tom Brady on the season schedule. Until now, it’s just felt like an annual date against the New England Patriots, but now with Tom Brady leaving for the Sunshine State, the potential for missing a Brady vs. Patrick Mahomes matchup was in play. That is, until you check the 2020 slate of opponents.

While the official NFL schedule has not yet been released for any NFL team, it’s possible to track which opponents a team will play and whether or not those games will be at home or on the road. Had Brady remained with the Patriots, the Chiefs would have hosted them at some point with one of their eight games slated for Arrowhead Stadium. Instead, they will now travel to Tampa Bay to be one of the eight opponents hosted by Tom Brady in his new home with the Buccaneers.

Through 9 regular season games against the Chiefs in his career, Brady has a 5-4 record with a 60.1 completion percentage and 11 touchdowns against 8 interceptions along with 21 sacks. Against Andy Reid‘s Chiefs, however, Brady is 1-3 in the regular season with a 56 completion rate and an equal ratio of touchdowns to interceptions with 3 apiece.

Of course, the postseason is a different animal and Brady is undefeated against the Chiefs there with an 2-0 record that ended the Chiefs’ seasons in both 2015 and 2018.

How will Brady fare with the Bucs? How will he mix with Bruce Arians as head coach? It will be an interesting experiment and the showdown when Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs come to town will make for a highly-anticipated contest.
