Neville Gallimore, DL

They say:

"It’s gotta be somewhere on defense, right? Secondary, run defense, on the edge — the Super Bowl champs must improve defensively. Gallimore makes his debut in the mock and would be a fantastic piece next to all-world Chris Jones to help fortify the Chiefs in the middle."

We say:

Gallimore is certainly a wonderful building block for any team wanting to fortify the defensive front for the long-term with a developmental prospect with a very high ceiling as an interior disruptor. In fact, Gallimore’s pro career has a very good chance of being much more productive than he was at Oklahoma (4 sacks).

At 6’2, 304 lbs., he’s got the requisite size to beef up the line, but it’s his athleticism and pass rushing moves that will earn him early time. Run instincts will come with time and experience to allow him to grow into a three-down player.

That said, the Chiefs only make this move if they find themselves at an impasse with Chris Jones. With Jones in K.C., the team also has a fairly full cupboard along the interior with Derrick Nnadi, Khalen Saunders and rumors of Mike Pennel returning as well. Of course, a first round talent would knock every one of those guys down the list, so if the Chiefs simply love Gallimore as a find, they’ll make this move either way. And if that’s the case, this line would suffocate opposing QBs for four quarters.
