Lamical Perine, Florida

Lamical Perine is a physical runner who has made waves at the University of Florida against the country’s top competition in the SEC for each of the last three years. While Perine is widely expected to be a Day 3 pick, Perine has been very productive as a part-time back for the Gators who excels in the red zone, as illustrated by his 22 rushing touchdowns (and 30 total) in his career.

Perine used his final season in Florida to show that he has better than expected athleticism to go with the power and balance displayed in previous years. He also caught 40 passes last year after raking in just 32 in three previous seasons, showing his ability to develop as a pass catcher.

One major point of note here is that Florida’s offensive line play is known for being below average, which means Perine might have much more to offer at the pro level than anticipated. Then again, pro lines aren’t known for quality league-wide at this point.

Perine should be a solid special teams player and would add a physical runner to the committee that the Chiefs seem intent on using going forward.
