4. Morris Claiborne

Chiefs Kingdom was exhilarated when the Chiefs added Morris Claiborne to the roster, which gave the defense a new face at cornerback—at the time, the position was the subject of much panic. The players were also excited, with Tyrann Mathieu being open about his joy of reuniting with another LSU Tiger.

Claiborne came on the team towards the very beginning of the season with the hope of giving the young players in the secondary a boost. After sitting out the first four weeks due to a suspension, Claiborne played 202 snaps this season (198 defensive and 4 special teams), when he found his way onto the injury report. Being unable to play initially with a shoulder injury, Chiefs Kingdom got a bit more concerned when Claiborne continued to not practice for undisclosed reasons.

Claiborne did not play a single snap through the entirety of the playoffs, despite being available in the AFC Championship game and the Super Bowl. Even when he did play, Claiborne failed to have any serious contributions to the defense, with only 14 total tackles to his name.

The Chiefs will obviously be moving on from Claiborne come March, and unless he shows something in his workouts that he never brought to the Chiefs, it looks like he might have a hard time latching on with a new team. Maybe Mo can find a way to shine in the preseason and earn himself a spot on a team, but that team is not the Chiefs.
