Quarterback

Players currently under contract:
Patrick Mahomes
Kyle Shurmur

Need for a starter: 1
Need for depth: 10

In most of these I’ll take some time to explain my ratings, but I think this one is pretty easy to understand. Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL, so the Chiefs don’t need a starter at all. Kyle Shurmur is a decent developmental project, but the Chiefs no longer have either Chad Henne or Matt Moore under contract to act as the primary back up. So between now and training camp it is an absolute must that the Chiefs add someone that can at very least challenge Shurmur to be Patrick Mahomes back up.

Since I can’t see how any Chiefs fan could argue too much with either of those ratings I’m going to go ahead and move on to the running back position.
