Cornerback

Players currently under contract:
Charvarius Ward
Rashad Fenton
Alex Brown
Chris Lammons

Need for a starter: 10
Need for depth: 10

I almost held off on giving any other need at other positions a “10” because I feel like cornerback is a stronger need than any other position. The Chiefs simply don’t have enough NFL caliber players to take the field at this point. They need one clear starting caliber player and at least one quality depth player as well. The duo of Bashaud Breeland and Kendall Fuller played a ton of snaps this last season and with both of them hitting free agency and nobody to speak of on the roster to fill their spots the Chiefs simply have to add a couple of guys here.

I can see the Chiefs re-signing one of either Breeland or Fuller, but there likely won’t be enough money to sign both of them. Brett Veach has his work cut out for him trying to find a solid starting caliber corner without breaking the bank this offseason. He’ll probably need to add another player in the draft as well to help the depth. While there are several other positions where the Chiefs must sign players, cornerback is the position that is the most depleted at the moment. So the Chiefs simply have to make a couple moves here before the season starts.

Now let’s talk the safety position.
