The Kansas City Chiefs offseason will feature several key decisions after winning a Super Bowl, so get ready for a wild ride.

The confetti has fallen. The Lombardi trophy is back in Kansas City, the parade is over, and our Kansas City Chiefs championship memorabilia has been delivered. So sit back and drink coffee proudly from your Super Bowl Champions mug, but for the likes of general manager Brett Veach, the football world never stops turning—the business side at least.

This NFL offseason as a whole should be wild, given the number of high-profile quarterbacks that are available in free agency. Within the AFC West, you could easily see new starting signal-callers being installed in Vegas and L.A.

For the Kansas City Chiefs, they have their gunslinger. He is pretty, pretty, pretty good—an MVP, Super Bowl MVP before the age of 25. However, the reigning champs still have a ton of questions to answer.

What will happen with elite defensive lineman Chris Jones? Will he walk? Will he be tagged? Will he be extended? Or even traded? What about Sammy Watkins? I mean for him, the possibilities are endless—including being cut or traded or having him take time off. Would Sammy Watkins agree to a contract restructure?

The Sammy Watkins deal has been long discussed and analyzed by Kansas City Chiefs fans. It feels as if since the deal was signed, Chiefs fans have dreaded this offseason. With no post-June cut designation due to the lack of a CBA agreement for 2021, the Chiefs number to cut Watkins would be set. $14 million dollars saved, $7 million in dead money.

Chris Jones is not the only pending free agent, the Chiefs have seven starter or high-impact guys set to hit the open market in March with Kendall Fuller being the biggest question mark. What is his market in today’s NFL?

Free agency is only the tip of the iceberg, as the Kansas City Chiefs own five picks that they need to capitalize on during the 2020 NFL Draft in Vegas.

How will Brett Veach fare in any of this? What else needs to be discussed? Listen to the entire Arrowhead Addict Podcast offseason preview!
