McCormick Distilling says a special Kansas City Chiefs commemorative championship bottle is coming just in time for training camp.
Make that three championships for McCormick Distilling Co.
Last September, the Weston-based distillery reached an agreement to become the official vodka of the Kansas City Chiefs. Months later, the team hoisted the Lombardi for the first time in 50 years. It turns out to be the third such correlation between a recent McCormick sponsorship and a championship for that particular pro sports team.
“We’re focusing on the Chiefs, but this is the third Missouri professional sports team we have sponsored that have gone on to win a world championship,” says communications manager Jordan Germano. “We sponsored the Royals before they won the World Series in 2015, the [St. Louis] Blues before they won The Cup in 2019 and of course the Super Bowl LIV World Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
“We are proud to be “The Vodka of Champions” in our great home state of Missouri.”
Earlier this year, McCormick released a Limited Edition 360 Vodka Chiefs bottle to mark the beginning of the new partnership, but a victory in Super Bowl LIV put new plans in motion to create another new product to celebrate: a commemorative Chiefs championship bottle scheduled for availability by training camp this summer.
The sponsorship with McCormick, which is the oldest business operating in the Kansas City area, included 360 Showtime on tap as well as new cocktails featured at Arrowhead, all of which Germano said were a “big hit” with fans.
“The response throughout Chiefs Kingdom has been really positive and we are enjoying every minute of it,” she says.
Details on the forthcoming championship bottle aren’t in view just yet with production not slated for another five months. However, Germano said an emphasis is being placed on the collectible nature of such offerings.
“It will be something commemorative that people will want to hold onto,” says Germano. “I like to say, ‘Buy one to keep and one to drink.’ It’s fun to take to tailgates and fun to have at watch parties, but it’s also something special to hold onto.”
