Police have the person responsible in custody after a car chase broke out along the planned route for the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade.
Early on the Wednesday morning scheduled for the celebratory parade to welcome home the Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs, a car decided to break through the barricades and travel down the parade route along Grand Blvd. in what ended up being a police chase and a scene out of Grand Theft Auto.
Update: Police gave a statement saying that two adults were in the car and they are investigating the driver for being intoxicated. In addition, a police spokesman states, “The route is 100 percent secure” after they intercepted and stopped the car quickly.

Fortunately, according to eyewitnesses at the scene, the perpetrator was taken into custody.

Hopefully no one was injured but it’s impossible to know details this early. The parade isn’t scheduled to happen for another couple hours, but large crowds of fans have already formed all around the parade route and at Union Station.
The Chiefs are welcoming back the Lombardi Trophy to K.C. for the first time in 50 years after defeating the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night by a final of 31-20.
