If you want to relive the exhilarating feeling of realizing the Kansas City Chiefs are really, truly Super Bowl champs, you’ll want to listen to Mitch Holthus call the final seconds.

If you find yourself waking up on the Monday morning after Super Bowl Sunday wondering if what you witnessed was based in reality or some fever dream from the festivities the night before, we’ve got a wonderful reminder that the Kansas City Chiefs are, indeed, Super Bowl champions.

Let’s write that again: the Chiefs won the Lombardi Trophy.

Those of us in Chiefs Kingdom have been waiting a long time for this very moment with little reason over the years to believe it would ever happen for us in our lifetime. From poor choices at quarterback to pitiful head coaches, the Chiefs never had the sort of overall organizational talent and acumen, top to bottom, to succeed this far into the playoffs.

That is, until now. The Chiefs have become a model organization ever since Clark Hunt was able to hire Andy Reid as the team’s head coach and now we can enjoy the spoils. Even on an off day from the team’s MVP of a quarterback, the Chiefs still came out on top. It was a special moment for a special franchise and one to remember for the rest of our lives.

If you woke up wanting to relive the game’s final seconds, we’ve got a nice find for your in MItch Holthus’ final call from Chiefs radio in which he speaks for all of us.

Here’s the transcript:

Mitch Holthus: Andy Reid made a decision to come to Kansas City. Everything changed within a week and in seven years, they have become one of the most popular professional teams in the world with Patrick Mahomes and this wonderful team.

Kendall Gammon: You said it many times, Mitch, that when he came, that was the pebble in the pond.

Mitch Holthus: That pebble in the pond turned into an ocean of a sweet nectar. Fourth down and 25 for the Chiefs. They want to use up all five seconds remaining so they don’t give the ball back to San Francisco. Kansas City 31, San Francisco 20. Mahomes takes the snap. He’s just going to throw it long for Demarcus Robinson and it’s going to use up all the time!

The game is over! And the Chiefs Kingdom has firmly planted its flag on top of football’s highest summit! The Kansas City Chiefs are champions of Super Bowl 54. Final score, Kansas City 31, San Francisco 20. And Chiefs Kingdom, get ready to welcome your champions.

Yeah, we might listen to this a few more times.
