Given the Kansas City Chiefs newfound home as the Super Bowl champions, they’ll be picking last in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The NFL season is finally over for every team. While most franchises have been focused upon free agency and the draft for quite some time, the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs just now ended their season with a matchup in Super Bowl 54. Given the outcome, the Chiefs have secured the final spot in the first round of the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.
By this point, even in early February, Chiefs Kingdom is used to spending an inordinate amount of time on offseason hopes. Mock drafts are read or created. Free agency profiles are absorbed and wish lists are formulated. This year, however, comes with a different feeling, one of resignation toward the whole process. In time, we might care more about potential draftees, but for now, it all feels so secondary.
In the moment, there’s a parade to catch and Super Bowl highlights to relive. We will all move on to the future at some point, but there’s no need to rush the process. The NFL offseason is long enough as it is.
