No one has explained what the actual illness is, but plenty of players on the Kansas City Chiefs roster have been struck by it over the last few weeks.

The Kansas City Chiefs were missing a couple players during the team’s most recent practice on Thursday when both tight end Travis Kelce and safety Jordan Lucas were forced to miss practice due to an illness.

No further information was given about the “illness” but it should be noted that several Chiefs have missed time due to illness in the last few weeks, bringing up the curious question as to whether or not it’s the same virus or issue going around.

With the Super Bowl still over a week away, there are no major concerns for either player, and an extra day of rest, especially in the case of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, is likely helpful for more than just the illness given the state of his recent knee injury.

On Wednesday of this week, wide receiver Demarcus Robinson missed practice with an illness but apparently he’s back and practicing just fine one day later.  During the AFC Championship game, running back LeSean McCoy and backup quarterback Matt Moore were also out due to “illness” on the injury report. Frank Clark and Lucas, once again, were listed on the injury report with an “illness” late in the regular season.

If anything lingers into next week for either player, then it would start to become a concern, especially in Kelce’s case. Kelce had 97 catches for 1,229 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns during the regular season for the Chiefs.

Next. Andy Reid remains underappreciated. dark
