Demone Harris

Harris is listed as a linebacker, but like Terrell Suggs, he’s going to be used up front as an end given his size and strength at 6’4, 272 lbs. In a 3-4 base, he would play a hefty outside linebacker slot (Tamba Hali, for example, weighed 275 lbs.), but Harris has found a home working into the front line rotation under Spags.

Harris first entered the NFL with the Bucs as an undrafted free agent out of Buffalo, where he also walked on to the football team. Harris has taken the longest road to the pros of any prospect here, but at each level, he’s earned his keep and then some.

After more than a year of flirting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers active roster, he was waived for good by the team in mid-October. One week later, the Ravens signed him to their practice squad after losing Pernell McPhee to injury. One month later, Veach signed him away straight to the active roster to replace the reps that Joey Ivie was putting in for Spags’ defense.

This last Sunday, against the Houston Texans, Harris earned the 12th most snaps on the defense with 36, which is even more playing time than Anthony Hitchens or Derrick Nnadi earned that day.
