The Kansas City Chiefs had four players named to the 2019 Second Team All-Pro roster including tight end Travis Kelce.
The Associated Press has announced the official results of their votes for the 2019 All-Pro rosters celebrating the very best players in the National Football League in the last year, and four members of the Kansas City Chiefs were named to the Second Team, although the final results are rather surprising.
On the offensive side, tight end Travis Kelce and right tackle Mitchell Schwartz made the All-Pro teams . For Kelce, it’s his fourth straight year as a first or second team All-Pro, and he was edged for the top spot by San Francisco’s George Kittle. New Orleans Saints tackle Ryan Ramczyk took the first team spot in front of Schwartz, but the Chiefs right tackle earned his fourth consecutive All-Pro nod with this vote—an incredible figure since he’s never once made a Pro Bowl roster.
On the defensive side, safety Tyrann Mathieu received a bit of validation with his mention as a first team All-Pro defensive back and second-team All-Pro safety and despite being passed over for a Pro Bowl, like Schwartz. For Mathieu, it’s his first All-Pro mention since he was first team All-Pro safety back in 2015.
The other spot occupied by a member of the Kansas City Chiefs comes on special teams where rookie returner Mecole Hardman was named to the second team. Hardman recently ran back a 104-yard kickoff return for a touchdown during the final week of the season, putting a nice exclamation point on a memorable freshman campaign in which he also made the Pro Bowl at the same position.
