Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos ended their 2019 campaign on a high note by beating the Oakland Raiders on a defensive stand. The Broncos have been led by Drew Lock for five games and it appears they may have found a solution to the quarterback problem that has been plaguing them since Peyton Manning retired. Lock, while not posting Patrick Mahomes-level numbers, certainly showed that he has potential.

The Denver defense proved formidable in this showdown ending with a goal-line stand when the Raiders attempted to win it all with a two point conversion. However, despite this defensive performance, this game will likely be remembered most fondly as the game in which we nationally learned that Drew Lock enjoys rapping.

Regardless, the Broncos seem to have something to look forward to next year. They have quite a bit of cap space heading into the offseason, assuming some cuts are made. (I’m looking at you, Joe Flacco.) They are also projected to have 7 picks in the first 4 rounds. Given that, things seem to be looking up in Denver.

With just one year under his belt, Vic Fangio appears to be safe, but if the Broncos do not perform better next year, that might change. Names to watch this offseason include cornerback Chris Harris Jr. who will become a desirable free agent.
